Why we built it

If you’re owed money, the last thing you need is to trawl through dozens of near-identical agency websites, each promising the world. It’s hard to tell who’s genuinely regulated, who handles debts like yours, and who’ll actually get results — so most people pick on a hunch, or give up.

We fixed that by putting vetted agencies side by side and letting you compare what matters: recovery model, fees, typical turnaround, minimum debt value and independent track record. You see the facts first — names stay hidden until you choose — so no agency can buy its way to the top of your list.

Who’s behind it

Collect Compare was founded by Nathan McDonald, who spent years working inside the UK debt recovery industry. Having seen how the sector really works — the good operators and the not-so-good — he started Collect Compare to give people chasing money a straight, impartial way to find an agency they can trust, without the sales pressure.

How we stay impartial

We make money when an agency pays to receive a lead — never from you, and never in exchange for better placement. Because creditors compare anonymously, agencies compete on merit alone. It’s the whole point: an impartial comparison you can actually trust.

How we vet agencies

Every agency is checked before it can appear — credentials, regulatory standing, track record and complaint history. We only list firms we’d be comfortable using ourselves, and we remove any whose standards slip. Vetting doesn’t guarantee an outcome, but it keeps the rogues out.

What we’re not

We’re not a debt collection agency, a law firm, or a source of legal advice. We compare and introduce; the recovery work — and your agreement — is with the agency you choose.
